Just $3.99\u2014that\u2019s WAY cheap by audiobook standards. But the sale price won\u2019t last, so act fast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to this brand spanking new audiobook, both the ebook and paperback editions boast updated text. I made a cover-to-cover, full scale revision for all three versions. And the text was expanded by about 20% to give readers more thrills, horrors, and catastrophes to experience vicariously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I included the latest in volcanological science, to give readers a deeper understanding of the colossal earth forces that drive major eruptions. And I presented those concepts in lay terms, portrayed through the eyes of terrified escapees and grimly determined rescuers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rainier Erupts always had red hot lava fountains and choking gas and dust clouds, as we see above in real-life situations at Hawaii\u2019s Kilauea and Sicily\u2019s Mount Etna. I guess you could say my story anticipated these real world situations with pretty great realism and accuracy. And trust me, I\u2019ve explored even greater catastrophes in the new edition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As Kilauea vies with Etna for volcanic supremacy, and dozens of other volcanoes spout off around the globe, it\u2019s clear we live in volcanically hyperactive times. But we have yet to hear from one of earth\u2019s mightiest powder kegs: Mount Rainier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Packed within her majestic mass lie sufficient volumes of red hot lava, superheated steam, and carbon dioxide gas to blast a hole in the earth\u2019s crust larger than Crater Lake. Such an explosion could easily be hundreds of times larger than anything Kilauea or Etna have produced so far.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There you have it. The latest science and an amped up dramatization of the traumas and triumphs of people caught in the maelstrom.
